Dark Star Lit offers a suite of general consultations and coaching related to marketing and branding:
- Website design consultation. Your author website is a platform for selling your work—but it's so much more than that. It's a space for your fanbase, one that you own and control. Social media platforms might be popular but they're also fickle and visibility is reliant upon an algorithm at best or pay-to-play advertising at worst. A website can help you grow (and keep!) your audience through email lists and direct contact, and I promise it doesn't have to be difficult to set up or maintain. *Note: Although I don't typically build websites for others, I may be willing to assist depending on my current schedule.
- Website traffic growth coaching and monetization strategies. Once you have a website, the next step is growing traffic so folks can find it. After serving as editor-in-chief of two online publications, I have years of experience relating to SEO best practices and backlink strategies that increase a website's DR/DA (domain rating/domain authority), improve search engine ranking, and increase traffic that leads to sales. In a similar vein, I can offer my expertise in blogging and monetization through affiliate management.
- Book cover design consultation/critique. "Never judge a book by its cover" is nice advice but the truth is that most readers do exactly that because the cover is the first thing they see. Dark Star Lit offers consultation, brainstorming, advice, and guidance on composition, theme, and genre expectations as well as layout, font choice, and general design elements. *Note: Although I'm a digital painter and worked in graphic design for years, I do not offer book cover design as a service. I apologize for that . . . the burnout was real.
- Publishing options. Whether you need help querying agents, are seeking publishers that accept unsolicited manuscripts, intend to self-publish and need advice, or are still weighing all of your options, support from Dark Star Lit can help to light your way.
